British and Palestinian museum collaboration in research, education, and conservation

Project type
Bilateral
Project status
Ongoing

This is a collaboration project between Palestine Museum of Natural History (PMNH) and Natural History Museum, London (NHM), funded by the Royal Society, to promote research, education, and conservation on biodiversity. The project aims to build human capacity and develop British and Palestinian collaboration in two areas important for environmental conservation and sustainable community development: research and education.

The project produced significant new data, publications and collaborations that serve Palestinian, British and environmental interests. It also established the groundwork and promotes long term collaborations that go beyond the scope or dates of this project between British and Palestinian academics, researchers and other decision makers.

PMNH has shown success in other collaborative projects that help sustainability of human and natural communities despite the difficult political circumstances. NHM is one of the top research and educational museums in the world. Putting our expertise together produces a winning combination that benefits both institutions (e.g. in research, education, and capacity building) and resulting in behavioral changes that benefit the environment of our shared planet via more efficient outreach to people.
