Flora
More than 2400 plant species occur in historic Palestine (Danin, 2004; Feinbrun-Dothan 1978; Fragman et al 1999). According to the last checklist of Flora that published by Al shakh (2019) the West Bank has 1612 plant species belong to 117 families and there is a paucity of data even here. In fact, there are new papers published related to the rare plants in the West Bank to add to this list (see Pahl and Qumsiyeh 2021; Al-Sheikh and Qumsiyeh 2021a, 2021b). A more limited study in Wadi Gaza identified 70 species (Abd Rabou et al. 2019) but the number there is likely at least 10 times more. Typical species in the valley include Tamarix nilotica, Arundo donax, Cynodon dactylon and the more common Alhagi graecorum and Silybum marianum (Auda et al. 2009) but there are more needed floral studies in the areas close to the sea.
Dufour-Dror (2012) recorded 50 invasive plant species from Historic Palestine. No exact studies show invasive plant species in the West Bank and Gaza.
Finally, we note that there is a very rich assemblage of macrofungi in the state of Palestine (Thaler et al. 2020).
