Desert vegetation

This vast region covers ​​about half the area of ​​Palestine, in the southern Naqab and the eastern wilderness areas of Jerusalem and Hebron overlooking the Dead Sea and the Jordan River estuary in the Dead Sea. The average rainfall is 50 mm per year. The plants of this region grow scattered and clustered in the depressions of the valleys, where there is a high level of soil moisture as a result of rainfall accumulation. The dominant plants in this region are spiny shrubs and short herbs, including Agathophora alopecuroides, Zygophyllum coccineum, Jointed Anabasis, Saltbush, Palestine Buckthorn, Acacia trees, Black Saxaul, Capparis, Juniperus trees, Lavender, Taily Weed, White Broom, Zilla, Spiny Thistles, Tamarisk species trees, and Nitre Bush.
